Black Mirror Reflections & Research

In the article "Inside China's Vast New Experiment in Social Ranking" by Wired, directly relates to the Black Mirror episode we watched in class. In the Black Mirror episode, their lives were based around social rankings on their phones based on their everyday lives. People could rank you 1-4 stars after each interaction they had with you. In this article they talk about how Liu moved home to China After studying logistics in the United Kingdom and he noticed that something had drastically changed. Everyone paid for everything with their phones including groceries, parking spots, bank transactions etc. Liu gave it a try and airplay turned out to be a convenient app. Within the past 30 years, China has become the world's second largest economy without much of a functioning credit system at all. Liu within his app a button popped up and read, "Start my credit journey. Liu wanted to be apart of this as he feels like it was important to build a credit after all of these transactions.

Relating to the black mirror episode to this article, they were both similar in ways where you ranked. A credit score is what the American system uses, and if you fail to keep a good credit score, they can dock you for it and it could be harder to take out loans or rent.

In the article "Real-life Black Mirror: China's moves to introduce scorecards that rank the behavior of citizens" this system has already reached high-tech status. China is on track to release its dystopian scorecard system that ranks citizens on every aspect of their behavior. This system has already completed several successful trials across China. Citizens' ratings are boosted by buying Chinese goods and community service. Your score can be knocked down for fraud, tax evasion, criticizing the government smoking in non smoking areas, or buying items the government does not approve of such as alcohol or video games. A low social score can stop you from getting good jobs, cut off from high-speed internet and can also block your children from the best schools.

Black Mirror

When she asked her friend to be her maid of honor why is she hesitant to accept the role?

I thought it was ironic that her flight got cancelled even though it wasn't her fault

I am confused on what the ratings are when it comes to the airport and when she got off the phone with Naomi.

Based off the start of the episode and as it keeps going, the pattern of this seems that everything is going  wrong for her.

Her meeting the trucker made her come to the realization that it is important to stand up for yourself instead of being a people pleaser and confining to how the world wants you to be.

"We are all so caught up in our own dramas" is a statement that really stood out to me.

Self Image

I could only link a couple of my social media accounts but I was shocked when the results came up. There were a lot of negative results that came up even though the posts they were flagging were innocent pictures. I have a feeling that my name is grouped in with other people on the web which could be hurting my image a little more than it should be. I also had a lot of unrelated links which my name was grouped into from sports or school.

lighting

3 point interview set-up: Key light, fill light and backlight
Set up the key light first- most important light because it is the brightest. It is to the left of the subject left and high up.
Fill light is not as powerful, but fills the subject with contrast
The back light lights up the back of the subject. This happens to separate the subject from the background
Eye light- small light places directly in front of the subject
